On Ringo Lake!

Our On Ringo Lake Mystery is now RETIRED!

Our Quiltville Mysteries begin around Halloween with the release of colors and yardage requirements and background information for our yearly mystery.

The first clue always goes live the 4th FRIDAY of NOVEMBER, the day after our Thanksgiving day here in the USA.

Each Friday through the remainder of November and all through December, clues are posted here on my blog for you to print and follow along.

On February 1st, the mystery is retired from the blog, re-edited and formatted and presented in digital form in the Digital Patterns section of the Quiltville Store.

After many requests through past mysteries asking to PLEASE keep all of the hints, helps, tips & tricks in place in the digital version, I have done that.

EVERYTHING that we went through during the course of our On Ringo Lake mystery, the in-depth explanations on technique, the many different options for doing certain units with different methods have all been kept in, and this booklet is a full digital workshop for this beautiful quilt.

With 21 pages of full color photos and hands-on instruction, you will be able to make your own On Ringo Lake quilt, without missing any of the extras that those who participated during the run of the mystery also enjoyed.

Purchase On Ringo Lake HERE.

Be sure to check out the other digital pattern offerings!

In celebration of our new On Ringo Lake digital booklet, all digital patterns in the Quiltville Store are available at 25% off using the coupon code DIGITAL25 at purchase.

Coupon code MUST be used at time of purchase.  No exceptions.

This offer runs through February 11th.

  8. Does anyone know what the color numbers are at Ace? I don't have a Lowes near me. Can't figure it out online. Thanks.

  9. Thank you, Bonnie. I've been patiently waiting for fabric directions. Just bought all my fabric. I'm getting much better at "scrappy". My first Bonnie (Lazy Sunday from Quiltmaker) I used only one fabric of each color choice. My second Bonnie (EnProvence) I used three fabrics of each color way. This time, I've stepped it up to five of each color way. Can't wait to get started.

  15. Ringo lake is close to the lake where my family had their cabin for more than 50 years - Norway Lake. Dad proposed to Mom there, I went there every summer, and I cried when my Aunt & Uncle sold the property a few years ago. It is a lovely part of Minnesota. Although I want to make this, I don't have much fabric in these colors - especially the orangeish colors. Thank you for honoring our state with the mystery quilt this year! It was such a joy to have you here.

  18. I may have to make one without waiting to see how it comes out (which I have done for several of your mysteries - leading up to Christmas does not give me enough time to work on one), as I long ago made a quilt top in a similar color range (minus the browns). I loved that quilt but never finished it (I don't "do" peach) until a mother of a good friend (who has dementia - the mother, that is) asked me to make a quilt for her. The quilt was an early quilt in Quiltmaker called December Morn (I think).

I decided to quilt that top for her, so now I need a quilt for me in that color range.

  25. Hi Bonnie, I am new to Quiltville, I host a Saturday Bee and have been sewing with the same gals for about 15 years. The past couple of years a few of them worked on 2 projects at once, I was like what? Leaders and enders they called them...you know Bonnie Hunter...so I looked at the books...bought them, and got all my scraps cut and organized. I have not really had time to sew this year, personally its a tough year, I have filed for divorce. During a summer quilt retreat, that is my only vacation for fun right now, a few girls were working on this mystery quilt, huh I said, they said you know, Bonnie Hunter, I was hooked again and vowed to do the mystery quilt this year it will be my first one...and I printed my clues, I will read, re-read and watch my cutting...Thank you for posting the first clue, could not wait to get up this morning and read the clue with my morning coffee...and tomorrow is the last bee of the year...I know what I will be doing...and some of my bee goers too...I will try and post photos...Happy Thanksgiving and happy sewing everyone...

  28. Thank you, Bonnie! I can't believe it but this is my 7th year doing the mystery quilt, since Orca Bay. It has become a holiday tradition for me. I love your sense of design and color, and the way you use scraps is very liberating. Blessings on you and yours this season, and thank you for your generosity to the quilting community!

  29. Thank you for taking the time to host this quilting event at a difficult time in your life. This is the 2nd mystery quilt sew along I will be doing with you and your quilting family. Last year was my first and I learned so much that has helped me with every quilt I have made since then. I really appreciate and enjoy the tips you give. I am in my 4th year of quilting and I am always eager to learn. Again thank you.

  30. Hello, how are you? It's my first project, and I'm loving it. I wonder if you can send the rules to Brazil? I tried to buy from Amazon, but I did not find all of them. It's possible?

  31. Hi Bonnie, Thanks for this mystery On Ringo Lake. I got part 2 now. The side link in blue didn't work but went to the link at the top and then got it from there.

  32. Had a ton of green scraps, so it is a substitute for the aqua. Seems to be working well with the brown and coral. Thanks Bonnie. Love doing these. Kaye

  34. Someone asked about the Ace Hardware paint chips. The store in my neighborhood does not carry the same paint cards as Lowes and the numbers are not the same. Ace has one color per chip and Lowes has 3 colors per card. If you can, it is easier to go to Lowes.

  35. So nice to see you live I was cutting my brothers hair when it popped up so he had to watch it too lol. Really enjoying my first mystery quilt managed to set up the Pinterest but need to find out how to share as I spent an hour the first week and then gave up. I will master this 😊.

Hope you have a wonderful family Christmas and and joyous new year love and quilty hugs.

  36. It helps if I read the instructions. I made all 200 brown flying geese and it’s the wrong size. Okay so I will use this in something else. I was so excited now I have upside down face.

  44. Happy Birthday, You deserve a million wishes. Your generosity is overwhelming. I am making Ringo Lake but haven't decided if I will do half or whole. Do you have the finished measurement for your quilt? I have decided not to make it a race this year and just enjoy it. I do ten of one clue at a time and then if I feel like it, ten more. Much more enjoyable that trying to meet my own expectations.
Thank you so much for giving so much to quilters everywhere.
