Spokane is such a wonderful city – a hidden gem to many.Yesterday was beautifully April, and we headed out at 10:30 am to set up for the Quarterly meetings of the Washington State Quilters.
Living in Idaho the many years that I have, spending my first couple of married years in not-too-far-away Prosser, Washington ((Where I encountered my first EVER quilt shop!)) I never had the opportunity to make it this far north to this beautiful area tucked into the mountains along the Idaho pan handle.
This place is AWESOME!
When I asked Lexi how many quilt shops they had in the area….she ran out of fingers to count them on.

The Washington State Quilters Guild meets 4 times a year, Quarterly and their members are many. The Quarterly meetings have both a 1pm meeting, and for those who work, a 7pm session as well.
I was floored when I looked up from a packed book signing table to see this:
Over 350 bodies at 1pm!
They came from all over Washington State. They came from Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Canada! So wonderful!
The few front empty seats are for board members who are seated on the stage at this time to conduct the general meeting.
I had a great time meeting everyone, and now have two full days of workshops to follow. Today is Texas Braid from Adventures with Leaders & Enders, followed by Smith Mountain Morning from Scraps & Shirttails II tomorrow. Both have close to 50 students each, so we will keep this fun rockin’ and rollin’ and have a stitchin’ good time!
Because there wasn’t much opportunity for scenic touristy photos ---we literally were at the community center from 11am until 10pm with a short break before the 7pm meeting for dinner, I’m going to throw in the rest of the wonderful Kansas Show & Share!

That red border sets everything off so nice!
Yes, you can build an Irish Chain using 4 patches as Leaders & Enders in between the lines of other chain sewing…try it! It’s easy! And look at all of those colorful scraps!

Quarterly meetings sound good. Glad you made it up north to see the other corner of our beautiful State! It's worth the trip. You need to go down by the Big Red Wagon downtown by Spokane Falls.
ReplyDeleteI spent 4 days in Spokane a few years ago - it's a lovely place! I cannot believe now busy you are these days. I am living seeing all these quilts though. Can't wait to see you on the Tuscany trip. Just over a week now!
